    Windows Media Player 11.

Has anybody tried the newest version of Media Player version 11.0.5721.5145 What do you think? I just downloaded the new version and I'm not sure whether I like it or not. Maybe just because it is different. I thought I would ask others opinions who have tried this. Is is possible to go back to the previous version through system restore or not?

I use either Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player, don't even have 10 installed anymore. BTW both are free.

Using Windows Media Player 11 dumps WMPNSCFG in start-ups of MSCONFIG, thus using more resources even if you are not using the player.

Media player classic would be a better choice. You can remove it from the add/remove program and will roll back to Media Player 10 if you had that installed before.

Ed, so all I have to do is to remove Media Player 11 from the Add/Remove programs and it will automatically be rolled back to Media Player 10? I notice there is also a listing Windows Media format 11 runtime. Do I need to do anything with that?

Also will it do the same thing on Windows Internet Explorer 7 will it go back to Windows Internet Explorer 6.

I use this link because I can get them to notify me when it has been updated. Currently though I am trying out VLC Media Player for everything & it seems to work just fine.

Edit: that is not the proper link, it must have screwed up, just wait a minute & I will get the right one.

I don't know what's happenning, those links lead to the same place, sorry.

                        @ snagel

Yes, also Windows media format 11 runtime would have to be removed too, removing both items from add/remove program rolls back to media player 10 if you had that installed previously.

I am keeping internet explorer 7, so I don't have any knowledge on a roll back to internet explorer 6.

From Blu signature location Media Player Classic shows 6.4.9.0 is the latest issue.

As ed klein says, 6.4.9.0 is the latest. I have no idea what that other one is.

                            re Ed.

thanks Ed I appreciate the information. I just wanted to clarify, before I tried it so I wouldn't lose everything. I get a little leary to just try it without clarifying the information first. That is one thing about this forum that I like, the people here are great and don't seem to mind helping out.

                            thank you Ed

I don't know either, I found it last night and downloaded both versions. I haven't run either one at the present time. I thought that it would be good to have another tool in my arsenal just in case something happens.

I currently have Media Player 11, Dell Media Experience powered by Cyberlink and Power DVD also powered by Cyberlink. I don't know how I got both Cyberlink I think it arrived when I installed my HP 640c internal dvd burner software.
I have Nero installed and could use Nero Showtime.
