2 monitor setup - same display on both?

I just installed a second monitor. I have an ATI All In Wonder 9600. My goal is to maybe surf the 'net on the main one, & run shrink/ other programs on the second monitor.

I am trying to get the desktop to show up on both, but I am only able to get the desktop on one at a time.

The second monitor just displays the background wallpaper without the start menu, icons, etc.

Can I have the identical desktop on both monitors with the start menu, icons, etc., so I access programs from either one?

UPDATE: Been working on this project for the last 2 hrs.; I have found that I am able to open the program on Mon. 1 & then drag it to the 2nd. mon. & work with it there, while still surfing/etc. with Mon. 1.

Kind of a clunky way of doing it, but that's all I've been able to come up with. I have experienced an oddity; When I open shrink & pull it to Mon. 2, load a movie into it, Mon. 1 goes blank until I minimize shrink. Very Odd!

I am able to run DVDD, IMGBurn, other pgms. okay. Just shrink (so far) is acting like this!

Anyone with any ideas or suggestions is much appreciated!

open shrink preferences, set preview to VMR9.

which graphics card?

This will happen with some apps, they will act qurkey on the right mon that does not have the task bar ..... I have a 3D app when spanned accross both mon's it does not display graphics in two of its windows, I have to reduce it to only using 50% of right mon.

Run quricky apps on left side and OK apps on right side

PS: Reason I LUV my new WS mon at home, no issues

I was wondering how the internet looks on a WS monitor, as well as other programs; Does everything appear okay, or do you end up with "black bars" or other "abnormalities" with a WS monitor?

Wow, you are the greatest! How did you know that setting? I changed it & it is working fine! (For now, at least!)

Not at all, that is a ratio issue with the way movies are filmed ....

As for display you just need that driver that handles WS ... see attached

That doesn't look bad at all. I may be tempted to purchase a WS monitor in spite of my hatred for the WS movie/TV situation! You mentioned a WS driver; Is that from the monitor manufacture?

So, I am guessing what you do is resize the windows of the pgms. manually to fit them side by side?

it's a limitation of overlay mixer, can only render a single video/object at any time. VMR9, or better, haali's renderer, is always recommended over overlay (as long as you have the hardware to support it), especially for dual displays

Could you post a couple screen shots of different websites? I would like to see what they look like on the WS without other programs open.

Also, what is the screen resolution that you have it set to? Do you come across anything odd with the appearance of any sites due to the WS?

Warning: I run a dial-up ISP, so I run a Max Image compress on web pages so they load faster so the .jpgs, gifs, etc. all looks blotchy ... K .. understand ..... other than that NO Oddities

I would'nt be do opposed to it if most/all the WS movies would appear on the TV without the bars. But, my experience has been that (all) the movies I have viewed on a WS tv still had the bars. I know this isn't the case for all, just seems like it to me...

My laptop is WS and I like being able to keep the search bar open and still display a page in normal width.

I do like what I see. The only thing that I think might bother me would be possibly the "cluttered" look of having several things open on one display. For example, if I had shrink running beside a browser window, it seems that it could become distracting.

But, with the recent issue I had with the 2 mon. setup, & some programs acting a bit funny, I don't know if I want to deal with that...

Just so you know katz there is a zoom feature on the WS HD TV's ..... so, you can eliminate the bars (lose some of the sides) But if you get a big enough WS you won't even care about the bars ..... me, I wanna all that was on the original theater screen

I know the bars ARE an issue on square (1.33:1) TV tubes ..... but the downfall is don't expect reg TV programing to have a GREAT pic you need HD programming, which some is FREE OTA ...... WS TV is the BEST ....AWESOME .... just waiting for the larger LCD's (>50) to come down in price ..... I was gonna go DLP but changed my mind (too much light in room) .....
