xp freezing /ripit4me/dvdshrink

just wondering if any one has had the same prob
i started to have probs with dvshrink then ri4m and even moveing files
ounce encoding starts or heavy load the computer will freeze up to a point of nothing will work , have to reset to reboot , i have even formated a drive and started again and unhooked all other drives and still the same thing freezes up a friend of mine has no probs with his , what or where can i look to fix this my new dvds are getting recked by my kids,need backups

Some process perhaps has gotta hold of your CPU and won't let go. Do a virus and spyware check. Also, boot with no progs loaded and see if that helps. Then one by one add them back till you find the nasty.

The task manager can tell you what is hogging your CPU.

Also, beware of overheating, especially with laptops.

thanks i will try now but i did do a fresh format and install and same thing happend the machine is a amd 64 3000+ 1gig ram

ok back well even in safe mode it does it i turned off restore and i could move a file from one drive to another but now it is back keeps freezing and the only app in task manag that hogs , is system idle process

well now i took out 2 drives and started shrink again and so far so good just wondering if it could be a power thing ? 300 or 350 watt and i have 1 dvd burn and 3 ata100 drives or could a bad drive be doing this to the whole computer ?
