    Another Switched Off Laptop

    Guys

My laptop is off completely no switching on nothing. how does a laptop behave when the battery is finished?

Yesterday it gave me the battery low message but I was using electricity...i dont know what to do.....at some point it tried to switch on with beeping sounds as if battery was dying but still my cable was connected to the electricity socket..

Could this be a finished battery?

Try it plugged in, with the battery removed.

The A/C adapter plug wire might be faulty.

If it still gave you problems without the battery attached, then more than likely it is the A/C Power plug. It can probably be gotten at an electronics store like a Radio Shack (not sure if there is in S. Africa ), or at the store where you bought your laptop, or lastly from the laptop manufacturers site.

One other possibility is the power port itself on the laptop, where the A/C power plug plugs into.
Doubt it's a problem with your battery.

it looks like it is the AC adaptor but I'd double check the AC receptacle for power, just to make sure it is live, and if you have a voltmeter check the output of the AC adapter. Like MikeyBK said it could also be a problem with the laptop power port or something else. Just so ya don't buy a new AC adapter and have the same problem.

It sounds like the ac adapter has no output or the connection on your laptop is bad. As suggested as above check the output of the ac adapter.

So it turns out either my port or the ac power cable doesnt work. When i turn my computer on I have to tilt the end of the power cable in order for it to work. i dont even wana try no more coz it would cause too much damage...

working in the mines I have to wait until weekend before getting to a decent computer shop..already i invested much on my computer this month now I have to fix again........gosh i love computers. But does love have to hurt always?

Chances the socket back there got tugged at some point and bent the leaf contacts inside the socket out of whack, which explains why you have to hold the connector upward to make power.

                      Here..I will fix it!

so if it is the socket I would have to take it in and probably live without it for two weeks, is this right?

                        eish...its still under warranty though

I had to send my Acer in for repair last year and the service center took over a month to repair it. I had to have a new mother board installed. But to replace the power connector should not take too long. That has always been a minor weak point in laptops.

After forcing the power cable for a week to the inside of my pc power socket the push finally failed to work so I took it to the store yesterday and it turns out it was actually the power cable not the socket..

....gosh then i had to pay 90$ to buy a new power cable instead of being covered by warranty..

                            ..dont computers suck sometimes?
