Slowed DVD burn... fixed DMA, Starforce

I have a Sony DRU-820a DVD burner with the latest driver (firmware). It seems to be burning at 1x these days, even though it is a 16x burner and I am using 16x DVD-Rs. It takes 2 hours in the burning process (not conversion) to burn the DVD, and I DID select 16x burning speed in my usual DVD creation program, Roxio MC9. Just in case, I went through a Starforce copy-protection removal procedure, AND tried other burning software, and re-installing Roxio, but nothing changed. I am at a loss.

I am not new to this, but I don't know where the problem is. Any help would be welcome.
    Thx in advance ,
    O

    welcome to the forum

use the nero info tool(see top of this forum/sticky)

put a blank in and under disk tab I need supported write speeds and manufacturer id

then save a report for configuration only and attach or paste

      thanks Chewy

The config report says DMA is off, although I specifically turned it on. Could that slow it down to 1x-type speed?

      Supported speeds: 16.0x-8.0x-4.0x-2.0x

      Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG. AM3

      Configuration Report:
