    No sound with new Vista

I recently installed Windows Vista, I now have no sound , at first I thought Vista deleted my sound driver. I went on device manager and found that they are there and got this message"Device cannot start, code 10"I would go to the manufactuers web site but the only thing device manager lists is High Definition Audio Device . Any help?

Well I honestly don't know if this will work with Vista but I used it to get my sound back in XP. Post #3 & you can uninstall when you are done, it won't change the fix if it works.

if it's onboard sound then you would have to look for a driver at the motherboard manufacturer or chipset maker, also computer make and model

if it's a pci card they are labeled someway

hardware drivers are big issue for vista , and they arnt microsoft problem, though ppl thinks that way, its not their fault, manufacturers should have made drivers well before vista launch. but it seems they are more on for making drivers for new products so consumers buy new hardware without any reason, like logitech for sure doing this for their webcams.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

But microshaft did not give anyone access to Vista. The manufactures were given access to Vista only 48 hours before it's release. So how could drivers have been written to support the OS.

            not true, entirly

why would u think creative has making drivers since vista beta stages, and still couldnt finished it.
logitech has drivers for their new webcams not old,
            its a very different story.

I know this to fact due to that the major retailer I work for, was not given a working copy of Vista until 48 hours before it was release.
