      my daughter fried her usb wireless adapter by plugging and unpluging without
      using the safely remove hardware option, a buddy goes thru usb thumb drives the same way

      a lady I know fried her mp3 player the same way

        good to know, I have been lucky when unplug my D link USB by just pull if out, I may have to do more carefully

          Right click next to where the clock is at .then properties and then click
          customize. there you can always hide it . If you are running XP it will always be there if you plug in a external hard drive ,etc.
