Takes Hours to burn a dvd

Please Help,I had to reinstall windows and now when I try to burn a dvd with Nero and BenQ 1650,it always does a speed test and then a slow burn taking over 2 hours. Before installing winxp again,I could burn one in 8 minutes. I have checked DMA it is fine.I did the nero dvd speed test and the write showed at 8x but the yellow line went down all the way from beginning of test to the end.I am lost as to what else to check. I did upgrade the benq firmware. Seems like a lot of my drivers were not downloaded with my install,so could it be something there? Anyone who can tell me what to check ,Please help. Thanks so Much.

Set your drive burn speed to max and see what happens. One more that affects your burn speed was your data transfer speed, watch the buffer behaviour. If its an old rip might have been fragmented.
