Q: Why Some Freeware Need Admin Rights?

Hi Folks,

I was searching the net and trying to get an answer to my Q ...

Q: Why would some "Freeware" program be written in such a way that you can only install them with "Administrative Rights" on a computer? Are they trying to hide something within your system for "Trailing" or whatever?

I would suspect that the developers aren't trying to hide anything, but realize that if someone want to narrow a user right to less than full reign of a PC that they would want the ability to authorize the use of any programs that are installed.

A lot of software are written so that you need admin rights to run it, which is really somewhat of a bad programming practice. Luckily (or unluckily), Windows' default user account is an admin status account, so most people won't notice anything (just like they won't notice when malware gets installed into the system).

I'm sure it was photoshop that was used the make the sig and I don't know how, but I can put you in contact with a nice little fella that can make it for you.
