I think maybe my cpu is overheating or power supply is going bad I did a search and found everest but dld zip file and when i tried to open it said invalid file what is a good prob for cpu management(temp etc.)

very bad, even the hottest cpu's die when run at 90+C for very long

get rid of any dust or dirt, make sure all fans are working fine and make sure that the computer is not closed up in a corner or desk so it can get some air

For now, open it up and blow LOTS of cool air in from a big 12" fan. Your PC is about to blow up!

I think you are about to solve your burining problems, too (after you have gotten ridda the dust).

thanks its open i did a little canned air out through theback fan all 3 of my fans r running and temp has already went down 10 degrees thanx for all the timely responses there doesnt seem to be much dust the fan over the processor was blowing warm air now it is cool what is the optimal temp that it should be at when I boot it back up tomorrow am?

You gunna need to get it to less than 1/2 what it is. You may need to take your fans out to get ridda the dust.

i thought all fans were running but as i was playing with mbm5 i brought up dashboard fan1 rpm2604 fan2 0 fan3 rpm2846

Well, I'd shut your PC down. Remove and clean the fans thoroughly. Pop them back and ensure they are working. If not, get them repaired and in the short term, blow LOTS of air in, as I said before.

Then make sure you clean your system every 6 months for dust.

Here is an illustrated guide on cleaning your computer properly. Some of the details likely aren't needed but it's good to know.

I find a vacuum is good, but keep it back from components.
As you blow the compressed air, the vacuum with suck up the dirt and dust flying around rather then it settling to other areas once you close it up again.

I take mine out on a porch or open the garage door and use an air compressor

I carefully blow everything til I can't see anymore dust flying around

your cpu must be a recent P4 to still be running

Yeah I like doing that too, can see everything so well with all that light, no worries about making a mess all over.

But, me being up in Canada, sometimes the snow interferes with that,lol.
