ok next question which is much more important if i copy all these bad disks back to my harddrive and burn on good media will it improve the disk or is that a waste of media?

anything that's important to you for long term needs to be backed up on quality media

unlike fine wine, dvd burns don't improve with age

Boy that was an adventure I guess it's bad when sony customer service never heard of model # after about 20min he gives me a direct # for sony dvd burner support for anyone else's reference it's 1-800-588-3847

Sony just slapped a faceplate on it and probably put their sticker over the top of the nec one

Problem was those drives are the barebones versions of an interium model

nec made one drive that does dvd-ram and labelflash, with 4 drive numbers and firmwares then sold them to sony

it gets even better sony told me 1 they dont cover any oem's for tech support or warranty
2 they don't cover anything sold on ebay
that warranty info in my previous post is his exact post and he has sold hundreds of these things so i'm probably out my money but i will deff expose him

no not yet and i've never flashed anything b4 so i have to read up on safe mode flashing etc

I purchased a sony aw-q170a burner from you and have been having problems with it so I called Sony and they said the warranty you advertise is non-existent that they don't offer warranties or tech support for oems or ebay purchases

Ok e-bay tells me they will investigate the warranty and take action against seller but my 90 days for paypal guaruntee is over so i have decided to replace my Sony with a benq 1655 I looked on newegg but they don'tsell them?? I want a retail can anyone tell me best place to order from?

none, or you have to go to compusa and hunt for them, just look above the bar code in the back of any branches, check for dw1640/50/55 any is good if they turn out that is not a benq you can return right away
