My daughter picked up a Toshiba notebook with Vista basic that shipped with 512MB of RAM Definitely needed more RAM so we got this for it. No rebate for this price
@newegg this RAM is now $80.99 price went up $7.00 Accordinbg to UPS the stuff we ordered is on the truck in transit and should be here today. Typical great newegg shipping
RAM came yesterday, installed it. Power up time went from 67 seconds with 512MB to 44 seconds with 2GB. This was the time from hitting the power button to the time the logon screen came up
best I can figure why is the os working files get loaded to ram then when ram runs out are paged to hard disk
page file usage must have been high before
only when the os wants more than what you have
1 gig with xp shouldn't be any faster than 512 with xp

Yeah I guess with only 512MB RAM shared with video and Vista thats the way it is. She's got 2 GB now and her sister got her old 512MB stick in her XP Home laptop for a total of 1GB RAM, both should be good for what they do.
I'm still leaving my free Vista basic upgrade in the envelope and sticking with XP home and 1GB of RAM for my laptop
