    Black screen...

    Is just weird.

I just bought a new hp computer with vista as an operating system.

I set up everything like the manual told me to.

I also added a video card to it. *e-Geforce 7600 GS*

Then i turn on the power and i saw black screen on my monitor.

The manual told me that i might see black screen and told me it could take up to 20 mins. Within those 20 mins i can't turn off my comp.

    So I waited and waited.

But i still see black screen.

    Everything was plug perfectly.

    Please help.

I wondering if this is due to the onboard video not being automatically disabled when you are adding the Geforce 7600 GS vid card?

Did you manually disable the onboard video that came with the HP?? Usually needs to be done thru your BIOS. I don't think it will be thru jumpers for the HP pre-builts.

Just speculating, but worth checking out.

In addition to checking the BIOS to disable the onboard video, make certain you have your monitor conencted to the correct video card output. I know, that's elementary, but can be easily overlooked in a hurry to try out that smokin' new piece of hardware!

And, when the pc is powered up & fully booted, does the monitor led (by the power button?) change to green, or does it go to amber, possibly indicating that it is not receiving a video signal?
