Temperatures and DVD Rebuilder

@blu and jdobbs, I got my pc running again. Can you guys tell me what is a safe temp range when using dvdrb? What should the max temp be?
Core #4 is away hot then the rest, do you know the reason for this?
If I choose to cut back to three or two encoder running, do I suspend them or exit them?
1) at idle
2) one encoder
3) two encoders
4) three encoders
5) four encoders

This is a hardware issue. The computer will respond properly or not depending on temp - it is not a DVDRB thing.

Transferred to General Computing where Chewy will tell you to put ice blocks in your PC, irrespective of temperature . But 50-60C doesn't seem all that hot to me.

62C is supposed to the absolute max for those cores(stepping/revision)

the question for jdobbs would be how can ipaulo default dvdrb to only using 2 or 3 cores

he linked to a thread that shows a 250mm fan already blowing in, I realize this is a design flaw by intel and not dvdrebuilder, but am concerned that these new qcores will get toasted sooner or later running 4 cores at 100%

Remember also that Everest will take a full core as he takes his measurements and if DVDRB is trying to use all cores, this will put some pressure on one of the processors that may not be there without Everest.

everest only spikes for a second or so then settles down to 5-10% of a core

His next step might be to verify that artic silver 5 was used when his hsf was reseated during the mobo change out

intel has improved these cores recently to handle the heat problem

I just started using the trial version4 after I found out it reported core temp
correctly

I opened task manager, waited a while for everything to settle down and closed all programs but 1 IE, opened everest, spike marked, the sensor model loads automatically(all the temps, volts etc)

Please tell me how to locate this file. When I find it, is it as simple as retyping a 2 or a 3 in what I suppose there is a 4 now?
If I choose not to go this route, can I just exit out one or two of the encoders as they start?
I called the computer shop, he said that he did use some grease but could not remember the brand. He thinks it was some generic type. I just might redo it with some Artic Silver 5.

It is in your C:\Program Files\DVD-RB PRO folder. Search! And yes, open it in notepad, change 4 to 3, if you like and save. No, you can't just exit an encoder, that will kill encoiding of the segment. The segment will try and encode again, with all 4 cores.

Really, I think you're worrying about not a lot.

Thank you blu, I found it in configuration settings and change it to three. Works great. I was looking in rebuilder's folder earlier and didn't realize which one to look in.
Yeah, your probably right and I'm worrying to much about nothing. It's just that I would hate to damage the thing a second time. I've invest a lot of money into this system. I figure if I can get it to run cooler, why not try.

didn't you burn up the northbridge chipset on your last computer Blu?

Well those cpu's dropped 300$ a few weeks ago, getting Intel or Newegg? to honor the retail warranty(1 year)
