I currently have a rather extensive DVD collection. I'm frustrated about the amount of space it takes up and I want to get rid of the collection - but at the same time I'd like to maintain the features and quality of the original DVD's. Would the following solution work - has anyone done it before:
1. I will back up all of my dvd's without compression. The files so far have been bewteen 4-8 gigs.
2. I will purchase a few network terabyte drives
3. I will then network those drives and use my PC's to mount the dvd's and play them
Couple of specific questions:
1. Currently my 300 gig external hard drive does not except single files larger than 4 gigs, is that normal? Will the same thing happen with the terabyte drives?
2. Will I be able to mount a 8 gig file from a network drive and play it without performance issues? On wireless?
Thanks!
