I put in a new Thermaltake 430 power supply today (replaced Antec 350W- nothing wrong, but new ATI X1650 Pro vid card would probably be too much for it). Anyways, when I shut the computer down, the case fan, CPU fan and power supply fans don't turn off. The hard drive and DVD burner lights are still illuminated too. I hooked everything up exactly as was before. What's going on? Do I have a bad power supply?

Yes- I bought it from Newegg. I emailed Thermaltake, but I'm at work right now and my regular Yahoo email is blocked. Once I get home I'm going to put the old Antec supply back in and see what happens. I can't possibly imagine that I messed/ missed something when I installed the new supply.Comment

It must be the Thermaltake PS. I stopped by the local Micro Center and picked up an Antec True Power Trio 650W for $105 (also get a $25 rebate). A bit more than I wanted to spend, and probably more power than I ever need, but it shuts down the computer properly. The tech guy there said it's most likely the power supply and recommended I get it out of the comp before it fries something. Newegg doesn't pay for return shipping. I hope the RMA process isn't a hassle. Thanks for the help.Comment

Give them a call and ask for the supervisor, I can't remember her name off hand. If you can get her ask Mario he's real cool. Just tell them what happened, that you received a defected product. They are real good about paying for the return shipping. They'll e-mail you an address label and a RMA#, tape both on the box. Fold the sheet with so the RMA# is facing up.
I had to return stuff twice and want to save the 3 days it would have taken for the return item to reach them, before they sent out the replacement part. So I drove it over there, but both times they were happy to pay for the return shipping. If they give you any hassle just make some noise and I'm sure they'll cover the shipping.
