    my computer icons

    hi,
    this a really noob question, sorry. i messed up my icons in my computer, partitions, etc. i tried every right click option and am unable to restore to previous default view. please help, thanks.



    im using xp pro
    norten internet sec. 2007 w/ add on pack
    spydoctor, current vers.
    ms anti phish/pop up blocker enabled.
    ms internet options set to default
    internet e7
    if theres anything i left out, please let me know and i will do my best to locate the info.

    Right click on Desktop.
    Click Properties.Click Desktop.Then Customize Desktop.Now under General you will find the option of changing desktop icons.
    You can do another thing. Delete Iconcache.db from your profile directory(usually C:/Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data).Then restart and it will be automatically created with the default icons.

      thanks ill try it. will this effect mycomputer settings? because my desktop is fine.

        So you mean in My Computer, not the desktop icons. At the top there is a view tab, should be all you need.

          thanks dan, ive been doing that, i just notice icons that werent there, like msnmessengers share folder, logitech web cam share folder.

          are default settings view>tick tiles.....view>arrange icons by>tick type>tick show in groups?

            Open Windows Explorer, click Tools, click Folder Options, click View then select Do Not Show Hidden Files And Folders, click apply to all folders.
