Disc Failed To Be Read At 25%

I hope this isn't breaking rule 19 because this is an issue with a home movie disc that I want to make another copy of. Every time I try any software to make a copy, the disc always stops at 25%. The disc isn't marked because when I turned it over it's in mint condition. There's not even a piece of dust on it. The disc was OK before because I watched my movie and now something has corrupted it. It's a recordable disc as well. Is there a way to fix this? As I said, I hope I'm not breaking rule 19 because this involves trying any software for a home movie. Some softeware gives an error and other software, the disc just stops reading as if it's on pause and when I close the software I get the Not Responding error appearing next.

    Many thanks.

    Darren.

What app are you using to copy with?
    You raise the blade,
    You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
    the key,
    There's someone in my head
    and it's not me.

have you tried from a different reader/burner, or even on another pc perhaps ?

some reader/burners need a simple lens clean too

could indicate a software/program conflict - try closing some progs before you try again.

I tried Nero, Roxio, DVD Deycrypter (even though my home movies are not encrypted but I thought I could rip my home movies with that) and DVD Shrink. I know we are not allowed to mention the DVD Decrypter and the DVD Shrink in here anymore but I'm not asking for help with those two softwares, I'm only answering your question with what I used. It odd how an unmarked disc that's been looked after can suddenly be unplayable for no reason and it was fine at first. I hope to sort this out otherwise I'll have to reedit all my footage back together from scratch because I forgot to back-up those home movies on AVI. At the moment I have to transfer the footage from my camcorder first, this is what a headache it will be.

        Many thanks.

        Darren.

          darren,

time to get on the bus with a good dvd burner and use excellent media and follow those golden rules

take a disk and copy and paste the right hand window from imgburn, showing mid code
          burner model and firmware

I did try in my other PC and the same happened. I tried with my external DVD burner and the same thing happened. When I try playing the disc in my DVD machines I get problems and I tried dubbing my home movies to my DVD hard drive and I got a message saying the disc was dirty when it's a clean as a whistle.

            Many thanks.

So how about that information that Chewy asked for?
