    Photos to and from DVD

I am preparing to take my 4 x 6 photos to a company that will transfer them to 1 or more DVDs. My desire is to get the photos on the DVD, then transfer them to my Hard Drive, edit and narrate what the photos are. Editing could include enhancement of color, sharpness, but also could include moving the sequence of some photos. I have a microphone; Roxio; Adobe Elements 5 but admittedly, am not very well versed in using these items.

Before doing any of this, does it sound feasible and would appreciate very much any suggestions how to proceed, etc. Thank you.

I'm not sure what your question actually is?

when having your pictures transfered to dvd make sure they will be burned in highest resolution and ideally in a RAW format as opposed to jpg and don't let the pictures be turned into a dvd-VIDEO because video has a way to small resolution to be considered HQ.

raw will let you change flaws (in terms of possible white balance, exposure etc) better than jpg and jpg may be too much compressed in addition to not being the ideal basis for pictures that may be in need of some changes.

of course you will have to have an appropriate RAW converter in order to be able to open and handle raw formats.

Thank you for the quick response. Although you indicated that you were not sure what my question was, your response was right on target. This will be of immense help when I go to have the photos transfrerred.

another question is: are you familiar with image editing or are you willing to teach youself a bit of image processing?

if so, let the company make reproduction and dont let them spend any time on the processing but do it yourself - this will save you money and get you results you consider fine.

and last but not least: are you going to give away your actual photos to have them reproduced or do you still have the negatives for those pictures?

ideally have the negatives digitalized and not the printouts!
