    Questions on Firefox w/NoScript

O.k. I don't know what has changed recently but each time I would do another search for something it would open up each one in a separate tab. I would have multiple tabs on the tool bar. Now today it only has one tab. each time I left click on something else or do a search it only changes just the one tab. I have selected in Tools/ Options /tabs/ new pages should open under new tab.
I don't understand Firefox that well as I have only started using it just lately as someone downloaded the Firefox browser at my work computer. I would really like to know what changed the setting that worked last week.
    thanks for your help snagel

Have you selected "Allow Sitename" where Sitename is the site you are on using the Script button in the bottom right of the browser?

I'm wondering if I should use NoScript myself because I started using Sandboxie to run Firebox in a sandbox. I'm wondering if I can safely just "allow scripts globally" since I have the Firefox inside the sandbox?

Anyway snagel, what I usually do if I am familiar with the site is allow that site, then if stuff isn't working right, I look in the Allow list and if it sounds ok I'll "temporarily allow"
the server being used. Say if I'm on a Weather page and the animation doesn't work, usually you can tell by the names what to allow. Like, not allow AdvertisingInc.com or whatever but allow WeatherServer.gov etc..

I right click on all links, that gives the option to open a new tab

when something doesn't work at a web page and I sort of trust it, then I allow scripts temporarily for that site

if I end up with some crap after a scan I either don't go back or decide I don't really need to see something that bad

I just went to the bottom of the screen in the yellow band and said to allows scripts for that particular site. It still lists only one tab however the tab name changes when I push the back button or the forward button. So I am not sure if I am doing what I was supposed to do to change it back.
I'm not sure about Sandboxie, I just started using this myself about two days ago.. So I am still trying to figure what the hell I am doing in that program also. My work machine has both IE6 and Firefox w/ NoScript on it. I've read about the FF for awhile now and because I was interested in it anyway I started using it a little bit more each day.

I've read that Firefox is supposed to provide more security than IE / IE7 but I am not completely sure why. Could you explain that to me. I've read that No script is advised by Chewy and others here. So I added the No Script to FF myself, just to get a feel for it.

Chewy, I did notice that I could do it manually myself by right clicking as you have stated. For some reason last week it was opening up a separate tab for each item that I opened. Even from the same initial search. or when I opened up another search from the point where I was last.
I am curious what changed. Why each time I open a new search or click on something from the page I am on it just changes the first tab name. When I go back , or go forward the first tab name changes.

I still consider firefox a beta browser

I use firefox exclusively for "untrusted" sites

Where do you find whether the site is trusted or untrusted site.

when I am using IE and I start to see that durn bar at the top and mention of active x I know they are up to no good, safer to just use firefox/no script and then look at what scripts they are trying to run

malware is getting really bad, even telling you that you need something to play a video

newest firefox use "site advisor", I don't trust even that

Better yet, Chewy center click using the scroll wheel. It will open the new site in a new tab, in only one movement.

well u are running it in sandboxie so u can enable low security to make it easier, once u get registered u can use sandboxie's options to enable sandboxie to autodelete every thing upon closing the browser and not worry about your system this is what ZoneAlarm is doing with their Force Field project

So use Sandboxie with low security and feel free to roam in safety

only problem I ve had is after a heavy testing session, i was clicking on every free porn site link i could click on and had like 20 tabs open. Sandboxie hit an error, and was using ~512MB of Ram itself and Firefox was near 512MB as well

I wanted to see how much crap sandboxie would prevent and then scan the sandbox for Mal-Ware, but I pushed Sandboxie too far, and it got in like a buffer over flow took forever to get it to stop, and by that point i had used too much memory and it affected Vista where i had to stop IE7 (Sandboxed) with Task Manager, and then stop Sandboxie, which fragged the Sandbox, so I was never able to scan it.

After which I didnt quite trust Sandboxie, so I fully scanned my entire system with all my programs, guess what nada zlitch zero, only thing I ever get is an occasional cookie with I load up regular IE7 to go somewhere, to add a bookmark

just wish I could get RoboForm to save thru Sandboxie, sent and email to my hero, Ronen Tzur, the creator of Sandboxie, who said he would seriously look into it

So just trust in Sandboxie, which of course you have to have a bit of faith in me as well, but I beating the crap out sandboxie for my own faith, and so far im a believer

Of course I havent been focusing too much with Firefox as Im using IE7, while i love Firefox too many of my customers use IE, so I need to test it fully with IE7

I'm glad I got Sandboxie. It already saved me from a silent plugin install attempt in Firefox.
I wouldn't have noticed anything except the fans on my machine bumped up to high speed.
Something had to be working the CPU. So I looked in the sandbox and saw some stuff about plugin installs... like it kept trying but failed. There were no visible signs anything was happening. Good thing I was running Firefox in the sandbox.
