    soup's quandry

    There is no room at the Inn. My case will take 4 optical drives & as you can see from my sig, it's full. The PX-755A that I am trying out to replace the LH-20A1S, I kind of like for certain media. I am going to swap it out & give the PX-810SA a shot next but I am also waiting on a SH-203B as well. So here's my problem, if I like them all, that would be 3 SATA optical drives & 3 SATA hard drives, plus the fact that I would have to take out 2 of the existing optical drives, (I can't decide what 2 either). I have the SATA ports (6 total). Any ideas on the best combination here, any & all input would be appreciated. I am going to attach some info here but if some more is needed let me know.

        well you might as well have the plex/pioneer sata drive in the case for burning dual layer

        the samsung 203 is a must also, I would want another drive to scan with besides the 203

        the LG as a reader? and possibly a lower quality media burner?

        the liteon is not burning well?

          I think you have two IDE for burner and four sata drive ( for HD ) look like mine, I keep Sata for HD and IDE for burners if you have more then two make them as usb or wirefire

            Had a couple of problems with it last week, one of which was not recognizing any discs at all, so after trying a couple of things, I read a post, shut it down for half an hour & it came back when I restarted my PC, but who knows for how long. I would like to keep the LG, but I also like the SH-S162L for scanning. From my research, the PX-755A (SATA) is a Plextor drive, so maybe I will follow NightTran's advice & put it in an external case to join the PX-716A. It also depends how the Plex/Pioneer PX-810Sa performs as well.

            @NightTran, currently 3xSATA hard drives, 1xWestern Digital hard drive, 1xSATA burner & 2xSamsung plus 1xLG burners.

                  If I were you I would hook up one Samsung and LG to the IDE, three sata HD and the Plex 755, the western digital the other samsung and the plex 716 to external

                    the 755A is the pata, the 755SA is the sata(just has a bridge patched on to it)

                    so if your case was bigger you could have 2 sata hard drives on the promise, one sata hd on the intel, leaving 3 sata for optical and 4 pata's

                      The plan for the SH-S182D was to go in to my daughter's machine. Ever scanned wth an external drive?

                        I don't like usb2, the cheap usb2/firewire cases from newegg we only used with hard drives, many people with your predicament over at cdfreaks are buying a prolific chipset case and doing great with usb2?

                            Thanks guys. Well I swapped out the PX-755SA & put in the PX-810SA, just trying it out now. Preview of the first burn, set it for 18X on a Sony Dvd-R, made in Japan, MID=TYG03, (because it doesn't freakin "BOOKTYPE"). Reached about 17.1 max & that was a long way in to the burn. Basically no go with PlexTools for this drive though. It also doesn't scan. Chipset is supposed to be NEC, from what I read.

                              check with cdspeed?
