Am looking forward to finishing the build on New computer.was thinking of putting in new hard drive.Normaly like to partition drive into 3units( C: D: E. but transfering active partition C: (old) to active partition ( new )presents conflicts. Is there a way to remove active partition from old drive.

Chew, if you remember with my system a while back; I ran into an issue w/ NTLDR files on a secondary drive. My primary drive was SATA, secondary was PATA, & it fought me on boot until I wiped windows from that second drive.

that's because you had the old drive as boot when you installed windows on the new drive, the boot files get loaded on whichever drive is set to boot by bios, the only requirement is the drive is active


you could easily have 4 different sets of boot files on 4 active partitions with 4 different OS's

That's what I am saying; if memory serves me right, I was unable to get the bios to boot to the correct drive - it seemed to always hit the pata drive first, no matter how I configured.

Of course, I may have overlooked something, but as many times as I was in there, (bios) I don't believe I did...you never know...

most older bios's have the option to turn off booting to pata/ide all together and then use other/scuzi for serial

newer ones are more sophisticated
