Skype/Messenger

With a view to use chat, Text and audio only, which is the least rescource hungry, Skype or MSN Messenger. Any Idears please. Note XP one end, Win 98se the other.

Not sure, as I don't use skype, but consider jajah. It uses an old, but somewhat useful device called the telephone (but with VOIP technology). If both are members, it is free (max of 150 mins per week to a max of 500 mins per month). If you join Tony, you can call me and tell me about the exploits of the English cricket team (I would expect one call every decade ).

India can,at the very best, draw the test. Bucknor and Co. did mess things up a bit for us though. Was pretty disappointed with Gilly's keeping. I am a great fan of him. Anyway,in spite of being an Indian, I really love this Australian team. So it is win-win for me .

Great batting today from The Little Master! Ably assisted by the tail - I really thought we would have a lead of 100 (which would have been a match winner) but instead that turned into a deficit of 70!!

Tomorrow will be super interesting. Will the Aussies "go for it" and try to set India say, 275 to win on day 5 (which would be a record in Sydney)? Will they crumble doing so? Will the weather intervene?

And yes, I was soooooooo upset at Gilly yesterday - it was a first class botch. EASY catches put down - and top order bats, too, who made us pay badly! Catches win matches!!!

Why would they ? They are already 1-up. In any case, they will make 350 or more if they bat the whole day tomorrow. But beware of Harbhajan on a 4th day pitch. It is indeed very interestingly poised.All 3 results are possible.

All this chat about some funny game called 'cricket' is all very well, but does nothing to answer my original query !!!!!!!

Which is best for old low powered PC. Skype or Messenger ????????????

@pagla - 16 wins in a row, that's why, plus our natural nature to play to win and not to draw.

@tony (non cricket fan) - sorry for the hijack, mate! I'd power each up in turn and see how much memory resources they each took (a Ctrl-Alt-Del will tell you this). I suspect Messenger might be less resource hungry - on my machine, it uses only about 40Mb.

I feel I must hijack just one more time - so, excuse me please Tony.

@paglamon - what a finish! Reminds me of Shane Warne in Kandy when he took 3 wickets in the last 16 balls to finish it off - but even more amazing! I thought Bajji's racial mouthing off at Symonds was bad and he deserves a stiff suspension and a fine - a good and experienced player like him need not do that. Also, the trick of the #11 to delay the game and ensure fewer overs were bowled by bringing out the wrong batting gloves does nothing to impress - in the end, it didn't matter but had I been Ricky Ponting, I would have timed the guy out. I also thought, that although Ganguly was out, it would have been correct to call for the 3rd umpire. Strange, wasn't it (as were lots of other decisions)? Overall, a game which no side deserved to lose - or really to win - both played good and bad cricket in patches - as was evident by the scorebook.

16 in a row now - that's some record, eh?

Yes.If any team deserves to win 16 tests in a row,then it is this Aussie team. But too many umpiring blunders(and mostly against the Indians) did mar the fantastic cricket that was played.Who knows what would have happened if Symmo was given out on 30 something when he very clearly nicked one off Ishant Sharma in the 1st innings? I was also disappointed with Ponting(in this Ausie team he is my most fav player after Gilly) for claiming a catch that he surely knew that he had not taken cleanly.After all he himself showed a good example by not claiming a similar catch of Dravid in the 1st innings.

In any case,the Aussies deserved the record,may be not this test win though.
