Installing XP SP2

Tried installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, but couldn't because the service pack couldn't verify some type of "encryptographic info." and was told to check if it was running on my computer. To begin with, what is this "encryptographic info.", and how does one check to see if it is running on the computer? Thanks.

It might be that it is having difficulty verifying that you have a genuine copy of windows. Download that Windows Genuine Advantage tool, or whatever it's called and see if after running that XPSP2 works.

it's rather late in the ballgame for upgrading a computer with service pack 2, it's not going to fix a computer that been loaded and running for a long time

you really need to at least do a clean install of your operating system, then turn off any antivirus and apply the service pack

I abandoned even that a few years ago and created install cd's with service pack 2 integrated into them
