My first true build a little assist please

OK Chewy I am returning the video card after some research it's crap.Let me explain real quick that I got a $600 gift card for Staples and went to get some things to complement my barebones but,there selection stunk so the best vid card they had was this and I got my sata wd hdd so that left me with $300 left .Now I'm gonna take back vid card and get a monitor there as they appear to at least have a decent selection of those.But now I need a video card and I've never been big cpu gamer but,I want to be my older cpus just couldn't.Please some advise and I want a real good one I'm building this pc for a while and with the Quad core and video card I want it to not be obsolete in 6 months.

nvidia 8800 GT or GTS 512 megs

warning these cards are in hot demand and more are out of stock than in stock

no real sales

256 meg models are not quite as good with the newest games

BFG,EVGA,XFX they all the same?Not all the same price

they are such new cards, the reviews aren't all in, bench tests show them as almost catching the top of the line cards from last year and in some cases matching them

the gts has a better fan and run slightly cooler

prices match accordingly

don't look for great sales, they can't keep them instock

Which brand would you reccomend? I've been looking around and it looks like the 9 series isn't coming out for months but,that's when these 8800 's will go on sale

Chewy I hate to keep asking as I'm sure it's due to my stupiudity but,I can't read the writing on newegg it's tiny and distorted.I'm not asking for your preference because I'm being lazy,I can't read the script.Do you know how I can fix?

Chewy she's done,I'm on her now .That fan is a bear.And the sharp edges . I got Vista Ultimate and I'm lost.Now the text is HUGE.
