Nero Diskspeed 4 - Newer version OLD Problem!

I've had a few days off from work and have been baby sitting and have working on some computer related problems. I've been using Nero 6 for a while and have a chance to use Nero 8, so what the heck right?!

So far not impressed... Remember when I installed Nero 6 on the computer and then I got those Samsung S182-M (sbo5 firmware ver)
You had to show me how to go in and change a setting so it would start using the Samsung?! I thought since the New Ver loaded then asked me to uninstall the 1st ver it would save the old settings... NO, Not happenening!

Please remind me HOW to go in the computer and add that samsung to the "thingy" so I can use the DIscSpeed again... I can't live without it.
Other than that START is grayed out and it won't go.

No I have a full and Legal Version of Nero 6 (you and SOUP had to show me how to change the string value..some how to get the cd/dvd speed to work last time). The trial version of Nero 8 is good for a month... but I need to fix that problem in there also it would appear. Even a $1.25 a min Nero clowns only know what they read in the book. I have this feeling if I install the alone Ver of "speed" I still have to fix the valuse to use this Samsung..
But my memory is fading!
Help me bro.. I need the FORCE.

This fix makes it so easy. This worked for me for Diskspeed 4 as well as 4.7.5.0.

I am not too worried about fixing nero 8, since it can't be done

Do you still have version 4.7.5.0, if you do, slap that exe on your desktop & use it directly from there to see if 8 has screwed up the settings. Even if you stick with 8 you should still be able to use that exe from the desktop, it doesn't need to be in Nero Toolkit. The problem with DiscSpeed 4.9 is I have not been able to find out where it is blocking the Samsung, it is not showing blocked in the normal path, just HL-DT-ST, PLEXTOR. Anyway I don't have 8 on my home machine, I have 6 on 32 & 7 on 64.

EDIT: just to confirm that with the registry fixed using the old version as a standalone will work. The path for Nero8 is regedit / HKEY_Local_Machine / Software / Nero / Ner8 / Nero Toolkit / DiscSpeed / CD Quality / Modify, leave PLEXTOR in there. Don't thank me this info is provided by mciahel.

I have both since I use the new drive speed as a standalone

regedit search is really touchy

tried several search terms

That path that Erik mentioned worked for me in 6, I haven't looked at 7 or 8 yet.

Edit: Is this what you mean Chewy. I don't have Nero8 installed, but using DiscSpeed 4.9 as a standalone, I found this path through Run / Regedit. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Nero / Nero8 / DiscSpeed / CD Quality / Modify, I left PLEXTOR. Will post DQ Scan in you know where.

Still a problem with this Nero...

4.7.7.15 was the from cdspeed2000 and i down loaded it and it's still doing the same thing will not give a start on the disk quality!!!
I also Enable CDSpeed Scanning 32bit.reg I got that also...
NOTHING! I've also tried other disk... nothing.
Soup bro.. think a sec... when I got this Samsung drive you made me go into like the registry or something and add samsung to the string so it would work.
I just remember what it was we done.
I wish I could remember.

Jake you are using Nero8 & DiscSpeed 4.9 right. I want you to Start / Run / Regedit, then follow this path: The path for Nero8 is regedit / HKEY_Local_Machine / Software / Nero / Ner8 / Nero Toolkit / DiscSpeed / CD Quality / Modify, leave PLEXTOR in there. Don't thank me this info is provided by mciahel. Take out everything but PLEXTOR & post back when you have done that.

Edit: don't forget you right click on the BLOCKED to modify.
