    DVD/CD Burner Question

    Hello.
Hope it was OK to start a new thread to ask this question.
I am sure its a simple thing to do but just wanted to be certain.I have an annoying little problem with my burner.Came about trying to install an older version of adaptec which I right away uninstalled when told it wasnt compatible with XP but it left a driver behind that if I delete, the burner wont work, but if I keep, on startup I get a message saying windows disabled a driver that would have caused problems.
So I live with that message , just click it off, and the burner works just fine.
Can I just un-install the burner then re-install it to get it back to normal?
I know its a minor problem, but it also an annoying problem.

The burner is TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-H552L

    Thanks for your help anyone

for the record and setting it straight let's specify some basics

with W2k and XP Microsoft rolled out SPTI to replace that crappy aspi mess
adaptec aspi never worked worth a damn anyway, it wasn't designed for that

some programs like the old clonecd and nero carried their own interfaces which worked great

recent programs have all gone to spti(native interface for xp) programs that don't are to be avoided

when you say your burner won't work without aspi, what program won't work?

        Not sure what that meant.
When I delete ( move it) the driver file left behind by adaptec the computer doesnt even read E drive so the burner basically does not exist until I put that file back. And when I put the file back, on startup I get the message that windows has disabled a driver, the one left behind by adaptec, but E drive is back and the burner works

        That's what I would do
Uninstall and then reinstall the burner ?

        Thats my problem.
Not too sure how to do that, and would I remove the driver left behing by adaptec first

          let's look under the hood

post a filter driver load order

and we'll be able to guess at what programs caused this mess

regarding the adaptec aspi, killaspi.bat is the best way to remove it

that's included in most of the aspi installers

let's kill aspi and then go from there

reboot after running the bat file

download this bat file to your desktop then run it

reboot and tell us what program won't work
