    Memory question

Hi all, I installed 2 more gigs of ram bringing me up to 4gigs ram. I also installed maxmem program and ran Nero info tool which also read that there is only 2gigs installed on system???? Do I need to change a setting or what so it reads the 4gigs I now have? Thanks for the help here I am ripping out what is left of my hair. Info tool shows:
    CPU 3200Mhz
    Bus Speed 800 Mhz
    Motherboard Dell OU2424
    System Dell Demension XPS Gen2
    BIOS Dell A04
    Memory 2047 MB

Once again any help as always is appreciated, Bill.

I checked the system info thru the control panel and it shows 3.50 gigs of ram which I understand the system needs some memory to run correct? But can't figure out why the other 2 programs still only read 2gigs?

You don't need that maxmem with windows xp sp2 and definitely not with that much ram

the 32 bit nature of your OS limits you from seeing or even using anything above 3.2 gigs approximately, windows has to reserve memory addressing for your graphics so that's it, the fat lady sung, save your hair

So far everything is running a little faster and when I play the couple games on it the quality is better. Thanks for the help everyone as usual! Bill.

That is what I thought Chewy, but was not absolutely sure could not remember.
One other thing to remember is if the motherboard can handle high density memory modules, low density memory modules are more compatible then the high density memory.
