24" LCD Monitor stopped display 1920x1080 properly!

I've been using this monitor for 2 years and 2 days ago when I startup the computer I noticed the resolution got reset to 800x640 so I tried to change back to 1920x1080(Max Resolution on the LCD) however the display was horrible. All the letters and pictures are blurry, seems like the LCD did not support wide screen. The top part where my computer is got cut off, if I rearrange the size of monitor with the button on LCD, then computer will show up but the task bar on the botton would drop down and disappear.

I have GeForce 7600GS, and thought maybe it's a graphic card problem so I switched to GeForce 7300LE and same problem occured. The LCD simply failed to display 1920x1080. The only best of the next resolution it can display right now is 1600x1200. If it can display all other wide screen resolution fine how come not 1920x1080? Anyone help please. Thx

First thing I'd try is check the web if the manufacturer has a support forum. I'm still using antiquated CRT but on my monitor when you change to various categories of screen resolution you can hear a click as it switches circuits. If you never heard a click then the LCD may have solid state switching or may operate on another principal. In any case, unless you can find some tweak on the manufacturer's site, the fact that it acts the same with more than one video card makes me think the monitor has a stage that died. Where it's 2 years old likely the choice is live with lower res or shell out cash for new component.

In your Nvidia drivers settings, go to the section where you can modify the settings for the display type, there should be an option to set what kind of scaling to use (display adapter, monitor, centered output ...) - try to ensure it is set to "monitor scaling", and play around with the settings if needed.

Also check the refresh rate being used, as different refresh rates might trigger the monitor to use different set of settings.

And of course check the usual things like whether the monitor is plugged in properly or not. With the computer on in Windows, try to unplug the monitor and then plug it in again, perhaps it will force Windows to re-detect your monitor properly.

If all else fails, do a re-install of the graphics card drivers (use add/remove to remove the Nvidia display driver and then re-install latest version) - something in the driver might have been messed up causing it to display 800x640 in the first place.

Some of the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Everything failed so right before I tried to uninstall the graphic driver, I attempted to change the resolution from 1600x1200 to 1920x1080 but I accidently clicked 1920x1200. My monitor DO NOT support 1200, I even checked on the manual and the shipping package. My resolution option always show 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 1920x1440. However, before this problem occured, I tried to use both 1920x1200 and 1920x1440, the result was "Out of Range" black screen. So I'm using 1920x1200 and I don't plan to uninstall the driver again. 1920x1200 is better than 1920x1020 right?

That's a strange problem ... are you sure somebody didn't come into your home in the middle of the night to switch the monitor?

I forgot to add that you should check (in device manager, or display properties -> settings -> advanced -> monitor) to see if it actually lists the brand/model of your monitor, or if it lists it as some "generic" model. If it doesn't list your exact brand/model, you should try to obtain drivers for it from the manufacturer's website and install those.
