    Windows Vista Recovery Disc

I just discovered this tool was incorporated into SP1

Have any of you vista users figured it out?

Microsoft seems to be getting with the program finally

I am not sure I totally understand the question? I made my recovery disc on 3 SL DVD, with my Vista 64 bit system right after I upgraded the RAM. But I have never used them on this system, nor with any system I have ever owned.

I did however have to use the restore point the other night, after I ran RegCure, which is suppose to support Vista (but maybe not 64 bit) and it totally shut down my computer when I booted it the next time. The restore point ran and worked liked a charm, unlike other times on other OS in ehich I have tried to run it.

this is a brand new tool for people who get recovery options like yours

either a set of recovery disks or burn your own ones

vista comes with a builtin recovery console that runs from a real vista dvd

factory builts have not been able to utilize it

sp1 will enable you to burn one for yourself, bootable cd with recovery tools

Download our recovery and repair disk for Microsoft Windows Vista (also available for Windows 7, 8, XP, 10, 11 or Windows Server editions) that can be used to access system recovery tools, giving y…

These guys have been messing around developing a Vista equivalent to BartPE called
VistaPE. You can check out the progress. Unfortunately it seems it's not allowed to slipstream it together the way you can with XP but for grins I put a boot disc together a few months ago. You get like a mini-windows desktop and can at least mess with files on your hard drive from it. I don't know what recent improvements they made but they are incorporating stuff from SP 1 to be sure:

I finished reading all the posts on the link and found that I am not able to utilize the DL yet, as they have not got the 64bit version available as of now. I will keep checking.

I downloaded and burned it to a disk. When I opened it, I noticed that there are a lot more folders that what is on the OEM disk. I can't believe that the manufacturers are that cheesy ...

as fas as i think that disk is bogus. fake, its just vista installation dvd without all the folders, i booted with it and it took me to where i press install or repair, same as any vista dvd, pressing install will give u error, pressing repair will give u some options of recovery that i have used before vista sp1, and u can just restore u cant backup, and that backup is what u make using vista own backup utility that makes way too bigger backup files then acronis and also its not hidden like secure zone in acronis.

why i needed to check restore is another good story.... my new vostro comes without any sort of backup/restore on dvd or on harddisk, can u believe it, my restore that should be on harddisk was actually empty. i had to reinstall vista on my first day because i managed to changed AHCI to ATA in bios accedently and vista never booted again.
