they are releasing it in stages and holding back for those who have a hardware issue where it will crash windows by applying it

the offending drivers are being rewritten

strange these files have the latest post dates but are same as the rtm ones, ones that show different older version num in properties.

im running with atleast 2 of the drivers listed as bugy / prone to crsh vista and still waiting for actual crash {im not actually } its just i dont have problems, gladly

word of advice for SP1:

if u cant get updates frm windows update that means u have the drivers that has possible sp1 problems, in that case get the full installer sp1.

fresh install vista and right after final boot install sp1, then install ur drivers and programs...... and hopfully u will not get the problems many are screaming for.

there is nothing better then a integrated sp install, as we dont have that option the next best thing is to install sp1 right after OS install.

When I installed my SP yesterday it was only 121Mb, and not the full 434Mb that they show for the SP. I wonder what I did or did not get in it. Everything ran fine, I checked to make sure I didn't have the one update they mentioned (which I did not) and then I ran the SP1 update.

It stated it would take maybe an hour or more to finish, and 30 minutes later my computer was up and running, I checked the OS and it shows Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1, so I think everything went well. Now that I think about it, maybe that's why mine was only 121Mb, because I have a 64bit system?

Yes, maybe that is the case also, because I did get the update thru the automatic update alert.

with windows update ur download can be as small as +-60 mb
