Ok. I'll get to it and post back w/either a screen shot or how I cleared cmos. 3/13? Is that 3 over the regular 13? Curious.

Chewy I went into device manager and it says my audio and video drivers are not installed. video saying (vga compatible). Now I've done video work and the speakers are working. I have the asus support cd and it offers to put in the Nvidea drivers and also the soundmax audio drivers. I didn't put in the drivers they say are needed for raid configuration cause I'm not raid configuring. It said the audio drivers are installed but now I don't see the icon in the bottom right. Wth is going on? I think I downloaded all this stuff from asus remember. The same wizard shows up in the support cd as in what I downloaded off their site. I also installed the nvidea network w/e on my pc. was that needed? It also was on the support cd. I'll post a screen shot of device manager.SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

You may have loaded the drivers in the wrong order
chipset driver for plain xp
usb driver
reboot
your video driver
and then the audio driverComment

Funny everything's working as far as video work. Do I have to uninstall each 1 b4 putting them back in? Also I just remembered I have a hd ready mobo w/video and audio so obviously it's not going to work right now until I convert to hd right?SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

I found it. Check this out. there's a small safely remove hardware icon on the bottom of my desktop next to the clock that wants me to remove 1 of my hard drives. when I click on it it gives me a choice of the 250gb 1 where the program files are and its extension, and the 500gb 1. Everytime I would restart the computer to go to the next step of putting in the drivers it would open up and then it would bring up a pop-up window that says system failed to initialize. What should I do? Also in the chipset driver cd for xp there's an option to install nividias network... Should I install that, or rather does it have to b installed? That safely remove hardware icon needs to b addressed and if that nvidia network has anything to do w/it then that also. thnx.SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

that safely remove hard drive is a nuisance but it's best to ignore it, durn nforce drivers
they are trying to implemet hot swapping, don't try it
once you get the ethernet driver install don't install any extra nvidia networking, windows xp works fine for thatComment

Well it's a nuisance alright and guess what that 500gb hd is hot as hell and that's w/the case open and the ac on. think it might be best to just go w/the 250gb, or this is normal for a larger sized hd? do I need to do a clean install if I want to get rid of that stupid safely remove icon? Everything was good until yesterday. I'm thinking I'll need to get a separate monitor for this new build as I noticed that when I used the dell yesterday or b4 and then put the monitor on the build everything went south. Give me a quick pull up on this so I could move asap. thnx.Attached FilesLast edited by dr_ml422; 24 Jun 2008, 09:59 AM.SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Went to google for that icon thing and it came up as a vista headache? The nvidia mobo cd has the vista drivers logo on it. When I first used the downloads from asus none of this happened. how can I get rid of the nvidea network anyhow?Last edited by dr_ml422; 24 Jun 2008, 10:06 AM.SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Something's screwed up anyhow cause when windows opens I get the system failed to initialize pop up error window...
Here's the pop up I get. Trying my hardest to get rid of it.
Ok. pulled an all nighter almost but the pay off is good. Got rid of that pesty icon and also took care of that error message. did a custom installon the video card and then manually deleted the mom.exe file. no harm no foul as of yet. you suggest keeping the 500gb hd? The storage will come in handy and it would complement the 250gb hd as that 1's partitioned off into 50 and 200gbs. just concerned about temp going too high. video card alone calls for at least 400 watt psu. 550 4 crossfire and 1gb minimum memory. my psu is 500watts. have to create benchmark again as it cleared during process. need monitor 4 new build so not to get settings screwed up when switching to dell. no hd as yet just till this baby gets tweaked. hint. hint...
