Jmet I see no problems. That should serve your purpose with no problems that I can see.

That's one should work fine, I don't really like the exposed PATA connection, but it will serve your purpose. Remember to make sure you set the jumper to the master setting, or you may not see the device.

Good news and bad news....good news is the SATA to IDE adapter I bought works great....bad news is I also bought a 500GB WD sata hard drive (which I had sata hard drives before) and installed it, but it wasn't;t recongnized, so then I thought to myself well the I just forgot to set the jumper so I pulled it out and looked at it then read the little sticker that says sata doesnt need/use jumpers .... so what gives? Tried to go in Disk Management and its not even recognized there

                FYI - I have SP3 installed

what is the new sata drive connected to, exactly?

how many sata connections does your motherboard have?

                    does bios post see it?

are all sata controllers on in bios?

My DELL computer came with 2 SATA hard drive connections and 2 IDE (for the optical drives) connections.

I bought the IDE to SATA adapter for the new lite-on drive I bought and hooked it up and it works great (Well haven't burn anything but windows recognized it no problems)

I also bought a Western Digital 500GB hard drive cause I had a two SATA hard drive connectors and only 1 was being used.

I went into the BIOS and turned all SATA drives on (enabled them)

I'll have to reboot to see if the BIOS sees it cause I didn't look

Hi jmet. Just a suggestion here. Try not too get too caught up w/this whole adapter thing. Unless your budget doesn't permit it I would just either send that od back or purchase another ide 1. They're so cheap now you could probably get a new burner for the price of those adapters. More or less anyway. My dell came w/only 1 sata hd and an xtra sata connection si I was able to use that 4 my samsung sata. Worse case scenario you'll have 2 good burners.

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

that old bios might not support the 48 bit over 137 gig hard drives

see if there's a new bios, the chipset may not either

what controller chipset does it use?
