Not meaning to hijack your thread, but where are you getting your firmware updates for your TSSTcorp TS-H653L DVD burner.
I have a TS-H653F DVD burner and having a very difficult time trying to find firmware updates. Currently running firmware D200 and have no idea if that is the latest.
TSST corp is a joint venture by Toshiba/Samsung
Samsung says their model SH-S223F is the same as the TS-H653F and they are running a universal firmware update SB00.
Thanks for any help, Dell sells this product but they are useless at their website.

The only update I know about is on HP support site dated 18 October 2007. It only lists improved compatibility with PC-Doctor's Hardware Diagnostic Tools. For that reason I haven't updated. It ain't broke etc..Comment

Well I was using Burrrn to do my CD burning but it turns out that
CDBurnerXP 4.2.1 supports my writers and also does CD Cover
Printing. It copies the audio track titles and times to the back cover
and whatever you type in as the title to the splines. You can optionally
print the disc cover art on the front cover.
Plus, it seems to install, burn and print fine in Vista!!Comment

quicky text only cover print
Hmmmmm for just printing a text front jewel case insert I found this little freeware at Nonags
called CoverCreator 4.2
CoverCreator
Unfortunately it doesn't let you adjust font size or boldness of the text
but it's simple and fast. Esp. good if you want to use a minimum of ink
for the front cover.
It can also print the back tray insert but you have to edit manually or paste the text in,
although it does put in centered spline text. But for the back tray I think it's easier just
to use the CDBurnerXP cover print function. Use the Slim jewel case profile in Cover Creator if you just want to print the front booklet insert.
btw it does work in both XP and Vista even though it was coded in 2005.
