    Noise in speakers - Motorboating, etc.

    Ok, I have tried fixing this myself, google, etc., but still no good. Thought I would turn to the experts here for help;

    I have a set of Logitech Z-560 4.1 speakers & I am getting unwanted noise from them. They are about 3 yrs. old. Motorboating sounds, whirring type noises when I open windows or click on stuff, move the mouse, etc. Even hissing background type noise when I play soundfiles or listen to youtube.

    I have determined that it is the speakers that is making the noise. I hooked up a set of el cheapo junkers & they are crystal clear. Please don't tell me that these *high quality* Logitechs have crapped out after only a few years.

    Any ideas?

    First thing I'd do is try the noisy speakers on some other PC.
    Divide and conquer. Isolate the problem by triagulation, divination or
    regurgitation.
