Lost Standby / Hibernate options

I am hoping to get some assistance with a system issue. I came to wake up my computer yesteday only to find out the video card had failed. I shut down and removed the card and went back to the motherboard video. That got me up and viewing again, but when I went to shutdown last night, the option for "Standby" was no longer active. I booted into safe mode ran virus scans no troubles found. I restored back a few days to before the issue was there, but that did not help. How do I restore this function?

what version of windows?
usually happens when there is no drivers installed for video.
check power options as well.

It is windows XP. So this could be a byproduct of the video card falure?

check display properties, are ur internal display drivers are installed?

Check the BIOS's power management section to see if the relevant options are enabled (check your Mobo's manual if necessary).

Did you uninstall your old video card's drivers?

All seems so obvious when stated. Thank you for the directions. Even though my video was working the mobo video was not enabled in the device manager. I enabled that did a reboot and for some reason my monitor gave an "out of range" error. rebooted to the safe boot menu and chose the option to boot to the last known good configuration and problem solved. Thanks again to all, your insight lead me to the solution. Now off to find a new video card to breath some new life into this old unit. To my surprise pci vid cards seem to have improved.

don't confuse the pci-e in new computers with the pci from the distant past

Almost did that the first time I bought the video card, Chewy. Here is the card I am looking at:

the pci bus and that chipset are lame but the 256 megs of memory should help a lot
