    The Wide Screen Is Buckled

I dug out some old footage the came out wrong ages ago and the wide screen that I filmed with is the 1:85. The footage has thicker black bars that tries to make it look like it was filmed on the 2:35 wide screen. Of course, it wasn't. I don't know what went wrong back then when I ripped the footage to my PC. Everybody's faces are an oval shape and it's so annoying that I can't transfer that footage back to the original wide screen format as the 1:85 that I filmed it as. Does anyone know any software that can fix this, please?

    Many thanks.

First thing I would try is play it in VLC media player and use the Aspect Ratio Menu
to set different aspect ratios until the picture looks normal. If one does look normal
then you at least know what the target aspect ratio should be. Step one.

Many thanks for the info. I'll give that a try.
