    No signal. Input not supported:

Ok I have the Acer X193W +LCD Monitor. Now previously I would get a quick flash on my screen of "no signal" then it would go straight to my log-in window bypassing my bios logo. It would also say "Input Not Supported" on occasion. I've googled this pretty extensively w/various suggestions. 1 I changed the jumper settings on my graphics card which is a HIS Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB IceQ Turbo. That still produced the "no signal" message but now I could see my Asus screen n if I wanted go into it as directed. The "Input Not Supported" was gone but it does show up on occasion on a reboot or like today after a check disk when it had to reboot. After it stays on the screen 4 a bit it'll go to my log-in window again and then I'll go into windows.

Now my mobo obviously supports the graphics card. It's a ASUS M2N-E. The monitor to my knowledge didn't come w/any drivers and ACER told me the "No Signal" message was normal. I don't know about the "Input Not Supported" message. It is a Dual-Input Model which accepts both VGA and DVI. Has 2 separate connections for both on the monitor. One member on another forum found that he had to change the ATI drivers on his graphics card and that helped. The refresh rate was suggested also but that didn't do the job. Now should both VGA and DVI cables be hooked up together or it shouldn't matter? Would I have to change the drivers on my graphics card also? Would it be The HD specs on my card that are not being read completely because I don't have a fully loaded hd pc? My optical drives are not hd.

Burning hasn't been a problem and once I'm in windows it doesn't act up. Resolution I was told shouldn't be a factor either. I need something to work w/here regarding this whether it's a clear cut solution or "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Would prefer a solution though if any of you guys can suggest one. Also it was suggested to go into device manager and see whether my screen was posted or it just said plug n play. It says plug n play. The card is XP Home and Vista capable. That Vista part always draws a red flag. I have XP Home. Thnx and looking forward to any suggested solutions as always.

to access bios on a fast booting computer and a slow monitor you might try rebooting or hitting the pause break key just about when you would expect the bios screen to show if the monitor was ready

another thing to try would be just start pressing the del key. tap a few times and wait

The bios comes up now that i changed the jumper settings on the graphics card. it'll still say no signal but boot the asus logo so i could press delete n enter if I wanted to. On reboot though it'll sometimes bring up the input not supported dialog box.

I'm thinking since this is sold as a VGA HIS H260XTQT512DDN-R ICEQ Rt maybe I need to connect the monitor either w/both cables into my board. The DVI and VGA or connect the VGA to DVI adapter and then connect the DVI cable to that?

Also I installed the drivers that came w/the cd. They're some drivers on their site that you could install also. I haven't seen which ones they are though. In device manager it shows the ATI RADEON HD 2600 XT under display adapters. In Sound Video And Game Controllers it has video as legacy which i presume is onboard video w/my mobo? Not sure. Probably not. So if its a VGA that converts to DVI maybe that's why it goes into that input not supported sometimes? The no signal I was told by ACER was normal as they also pointed out what you just suggested about the monitor trying to catch up w/my system.

Not an option on connecting both cables. Confused enough. i did uninstall the drivers on my video card n went to ati's website to install the latest ones n for windows xp home only. did the simple install. left the ccc option alone 4 now. i'll look into that further when i learn more about hd and have more patience to play w/all the settings.

Ok so here's some news from our friend Google. Well sort off promising. My acer has a DVI-D Single Link connector and my graphics card comes w/2 connectors but they're both DVI-I Dual Link. So the last few days I've roamed Google and some say that you could connect a DVI-D single Link Connector cable to the DVI-I Dual Link and it should work. Obviously maybe it hasn't worked because it won't support it or there's something wrong w/the monitor which I'll get back in about a week after the geniuses in Acer try to so call repair it.

Anyone have the real load down on whether or not it should accept the DVI-D single cable connector? Or will a DVI-D Dual Link connector cable be good to go? I know the DVI-I Dual connector is backwards compatible. I think that's what I read. Would the DVI-D Dual Link be good to go?

The adapter from DVI-I Dual Link to VGA was working I think. Don't remember fully. I'd like the digital signal pumping through though. Also keep in my mind my GPU is fast, but that I don't know is exactly the issue. Hit me back w/any input on this. Worst comes to worse I'd have a monitor that's digital capable along w/a graphic card but used as a VGA.

Well received my monitor yesterday and all is well for now. Acer apparently fixed w/e was going on.

          It Works

ok, after viewing all the posts here and other places due to Google Search, my husband and I came across a post that sounded too simple to really be the answer.
Unplugged the monitor for about 15-20 minutes, plugged it back in, booted up and BAM!!!! IT WORKS!! full digital signal!!!

The alternative was to unplug it overnight.

          Try it!!!
