Need help setting RAM timing

I did this so long ago, & I can't remember what settings to change in the BIOS.

This is the RAM I have -

I see the RAM settings in the specs on the newegg page, but I don't know which ones to change in the BIOS specifically.

Hey katz, did you get it sorted out?

I have a EVGA780i. Mine is Advanced Chipset Features>FSB & Memory Config>MemoryTiming Setting. Of course yours is going to be a little different, but should be somewhat of the same. I use to have an Asus broad and it was pretty close.

Wow the timing on those sticks are very low. It shows they run at 2.8v, which seems high to me, but that what makes them so fast. Reading some of the reviews some say these run hot, so be careful. Have a lot of air flow directed at them, if your go to run them at that voltage.

I just leave all my setting of auto, cause I don't know enough to mess with them. I use play around with the timings when I had the Asus mobo, but I never felt really comfortable with what I was doing.

I would have say to wait for Chewy.

No, I haven't done any more to those settings yet. My BIOS doesn't make sense to me with the headings that they have listed in the RAM area. On top of that, the old PATA drive that I have in that pc has started to fail, so I am busy getting things ready for a new HD, backing up some data, etc.

After all that is completed, I will tackle the settings again. The reason I wanted to change them is that when I ran memtest the pgm. told me that the timings were incorrect. They were set on auto.

Hey gonwk, I really like it, goes well with the three other 750gb Seagates. I bought it from The Egg for $129, it was an OEM one so no supplied disk. I just use windows to format it, works great no problems yet. The prices have been coming down. I been pondering to get another one, but I would have to buy a controller card with Sata hookups as I've used up the six ones on the mobo.

You can get a free wd program the will to format hard drives and also to set up the hard drive to back to like it was new. Will zero out the drive.

When I look on both WD and Seagate sites they sort of have stuff named for the user like Installation software instead of low level format. Is there a generic Sata formatter thingy?

Hey Miles,

I have been using Eraser for Zeroing, or completely "wiping" my drives. It is free, and does work great because I have used data recovery software on the drive afterwards & it could not find anything!

Well, Chewy, doc & other guys on here will tell you that you are supposed to set the RAM timings/voltage in the BIOS. Also, memtest was giving me a message that the settings were incorrect.
