Just started using Chrome as a second browser for my wife, who is just learning to surf the net/email/chat, etc. I mainly use firefox because of all the add-on features and toolbar integrations (check out RoboForm if you need passwords and usernames filled in often). But the more I check it out now that it's downloaded, the more I'm liking it. It's so streamlined, and there's no worry about any kind of clutter. Just pure web page with only 2 buttons to worry about; no menus at the top which is weird at first, but then you get used to it.

And about the Gmail add-ons for FF, you have to constantly update them with each version of FF, and if it's not compatible with the latest version, well, you're screwed. With Chrome's Incognito mode (which should also be known as "this-was-a-genius-idea" mode, you don't have to worry about constantly needed to update any extras that slow down your browser as they constantly check for updates and load into the browser.

While I don't see it overtaking my FF as my default browser, it's good for a quick session surf without waiting for all my tabs to constantly load. Chrome supports separate instances for each tab so you don't have to wait for them to load as long, and if one crashes, it doesn't affect the others.

I've bookmarked the Chrome feedback page to send in suggestions/comments when I think of any. Here it is...

1st thing I notice on a lot of add-ons for FF, especially the ones for Gmail is their disclaimer for no responsibility arriving out of any trouble w/using them. I understand this fully as it's open source and free, but you hit it right on the spot. Some will be compatible and others not, regardless of newer versions of FF. I just use the Gmail notifier in my system tray w/googletalk. As soon as I log on I'll let it notify me of any mail, then I'll usually exit googletalk if I'm working on something and prefer the notifier to do just that.

That less clutter is what got me interested along w/that integrated search/url window which also imo was a clever move. I feel having less clutter would also help strain on the eyes as there's less to process and decipher. Incognito is off the hook. Kudos to the original thinker on that one.

Admin, I can't install chrome. Is it because it's not compatible w/xp home sp3? I see it says sp2 on their site. Was taking forever to import ff search settings. Had to use task manager to end task and then reboot to use ff.
