Chewy: Spybot Search and Destroy

Chewy, I have noticed in several threads that you use Spybot Search and Destroy with the SD helper? What is the SD helper?

Also I noticed that you do not use Tea Timer, Can you tell me why you don't like the Tea Timer?

I am not sure that I like it coming on and off all the time because half of the time with numbers or values only I am not sure whether to allow or disallow them or not. Kind of confusing.

How do I go about stopping tea timer should I choose to do so?

The SDHelper integrates into IE giving it more protection, this is all dependent upon the immunize feature, one part of it adds entries to your hosts file that prevent you from even going to certain known maliscous websites

Teatimer is great for advanced users who know what to allow or disallow, but advanced users rarely need that kind of protection

Teatimer can hose almost any legitimate program installation or even any malware removal

It's up to individual user preference

Many other programs like winpatrol do the same thing, having duplicate protection really can hose everything

I've found TeaTimer pretty good. It asks if you want to allow or disallow changes to critical registry keys (like startup items). If you know you don't want that new prog to run every single time you start (and slow the startup of your machine down even further), you can answer no. On my permanent blocklist is Quicktime task, for example.

i like tea timer very much, i feel safe with it as there are many software i wanna tryu and it let me know what entries its doing.
