    Ps3

When I say about people telling me this 'n' that, I don't mean here, I mean elsewhere such as in person, on the internet, on the phone and what I've watched and read. I believe the PS3 isn't as good as people say it is.

With the information board you can't read the messages because they scroll up too quickly.

With the Internet Browser, when you go on another web site like Yahoo the right-hand of the screen is missing when you pan to the right.

When you want to go to the previous page you have to close the browser down every time, not like with a PC where you can click on Back and keep the browser open.

When you e-mail in the PS3 you get limited space to type a subject title and for an an e-mail and the subject title only allows about ten characters and that is nowhere near enough.

Where's all the chat rooms and and forums that people have been bragging about? We can't even create a proper profile. When I visit people's profiles they don't even say whether they are male or female and that's because they can't. There's an option called Players Meet. I thought it would be a place where we can meet other players using the PS3 but from what I see it's people only playing the same games as me. I thought it would be a profile section where we can view PS3 user's profiles that they created through the PS3 and with detail this time like viewing profiles at My Space or Facebook. The profiles at Players Meet are the same lousy ones that I just mentioned that tell us nothing about others.

Something else that annoys me. I started playing GTA 4 with my PS3 before I got the internet running through it. When the internet was running through it and when I loaded GTA 4 I got a message saying I'll have to start the game again to earn all the trophies. With the XBox 360 you don't need the internet to earn achivements but you need the internet to earn trophies in the PS3. Of course, the achivements are like trophies.

How do you downloaded free games, music and movies that people have been bragging about? The only games I found are trials and different links in the PS3 internet leads to the same games.

Why is the PS3 so slow at downloading with my high speed Broadband? I checked my internet speed through my details in my PS3 and it says my internet connection is running fine and my connection in my PS3 says it's 100%. It took about 15 minutes the other evening just to download an update at 77MB's. It's pathetic. It's like listening to people argueing over the colour of strawberries.

To be honest, I find the PS3 internet a major disappointment and I wonder if it's worth getting the internet connected to my XBox 360. I know it costs money for the XBox Live but there's a chance it might be more enjoyable. Well, I'm not enjoying the PS3 internet at all, I find is as boring as sin. It sucks.

I find some games better to play in the XBox 360 because when I play a game like GTA 4 in my PS3, the back of a vehicle sometimes zooms-up on my screen and I can't see where I'm going and it sometimes causes me to crash and it's more annoying when I'm being chased and that never happened with the Xbox 360 version. Also, the L3 stick tends to jolt in the wrong place when I'm trying to do a drive-by shoot, I either causes the back of my car to zoom-up on my screen so I can't see where I'm aiming, it sometimes causes the front of my car to zoom-up on my screen when I'm shooting behind me as I'm reversing, and the same when I'm driving forwards when I'm shooting behind me. Also, sometimes when I'm driving fast the car slows right down. I failed the mission No.1 when that happened. I was in first place and the car slowed down in front of the finish line and somebody over-took me. It's happened when people chase me. Sometimes when I press the button to enter a vehicle he just stands there. My controller isn't faulty because I tried another. I never had those problems with the XBox 360 controller.

People say how good the PS3 is and what it can do and they slag off the XBox 360 but I wonder what they were talking about.

The PS3 does a lot of things, but gaming isn't really its strong point (I know, strange). I think it's an excellent media player (Blu-ray, media hub) though, thanks to its almost silent operation (best to get the BD remote though, if you use it a lot for video watching).

For most multi-platform games (games released on both 360 and PS3), many people favour the 360 version, and you'll be hard pressed to find a game that's worse on the 360 compared to the PS3 version. It's to do with development time on the PS3, and because it takes longer and in the US at least, because the 360 version sells better, developers tend to favour one version over another (and it's naturally easier to develop games on the 360 in the first place, so it's harder to get it wrong).

Things like trophies and everything are still quite new on the PS3, so there are bound to be a problem issues.

Not sure about free games and such, but the PS store does have a few demos, video trailers and other things. There might be giveaways at times, but I haven't heard of any (on the other hand, I've got about 4 free Live games already).

The Internet browser and download speeds are well known for being quite slow, I don't know why that is or why Sony hasn't fixed it yet, but I don't use it that much.

The other thing that I will warn you is that don't update the firmware straight away - wait about 2 weeks after release before attempting, as Sony's firmware releases are almost always buggy. Also, if you can, avoid updating altogether (hard to do because Sony forces you to do it before you can use the PSN features) because firmware updates are known to cause the Blu-ray drive to fail.

Many thanks for your views. Sorry I took a while to thank you. I lost track of my thread.

That issue about the trophies, I had to start GTA 4 again to earn them. Luckily that's the only game I have for the PS3 at the moment so I don't have to start other games again. The reason why I only have that game so far is because I don't have much money and I only managed to buy the PS3 about three weeks ago and that was on credit.
