    Autoplay feature

when i insert a cd/dvd into my pc, a box usually pops up giving me options of what i wanted to do with the selected media - i.e : play with power dvd / save tracks with real player etc. it doesn`t do this anymore, i have to open my computer & right click on the dvd drive to get the options.
why has the box stopped popping up ?
    any help would be appreciated.
    banksy.

        Hi Paglamon,

How do you do it ... always have something at your fingertip!

Paglamon, do you have something like Kellys Korner for Vista!?!?

        Thanks,

        G!

Ummm...not yet. I have never used Vista myself. G!, what advantage do you get out of Vista over XP(considering the amount of problem that Vista seems to have been creating) ?

            Hi Paglamon,

I had no choice ... I was forced into it. My new laptop came with Vista Home Prem., SP1, 64-bit (not even 32-bit). I have a disc that can downgrade to 32-bit ... but after reading some articles I decided to stay with 64-bit. But also lot of folks with my same laptop had tried downgrading to XP and or Vista 32-bit and had a very HARD time locating all the darn drivers. I have Gateway M-6862.

But when you research and read it seems that Vista has better Security, and manages to Self-Diagnose itself better than XP ... so I guess more of a dummy-proof system if you learn to deal with UAC and other junk.

I am pretty much used to it now ... just able to get around ... but not an expert.

Also, I hate Microsoft for changing Software Looks on you after you get used to where everything is ... like IE7 ... wht they have Page save on top right hand side now ... and why my regular Folder Explorer and Internet Explorer is Merged into each other ... I HATE that ... it Sucks!

Other than that ... I have No Problem(s) and World is still Beuatiful! especially after few Hard Liquor drinks ... everything seems Rosey!

            G!

Vista is prettier. You pay the price for the beauty and bells and whistles.

The way the menus are laid out and the graphics are nicer. In disk management you can do a few more things.(Like resize a partition)

I actually put it on myself.

I am missing XP. Windows 7 does look promising however.

                Hi Burrell,

Can you do the Partition Resize without losing any data ... or only on a clean install!?!?

BTW, is Windows 7 still available for "Free" download!?!?

                Thanks,

                G!

                  ...

I am missing XP. Windows 7 does look promising however.

I'd be curious to install Vista Ultimate with SP1 to see how it stacks up.
I have a feeling that Superbar is one of those things that you just can't emulate as well from a 3rd party software. That's the feature I'll miss.

There seems to be always some mysterious Windows innards that give MS the advantage when it comes to hooking into the shell.

                      Hi Burrell,

                      THANKS Pal!

BTW, what do you suggest fro download Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit!?!?

Plus, I was thinking of running it on Virtual PC.
