Lens Cleaning Discs on PC Drive?

My HP DVD Writer is acting up..it will load and read DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs, but has stopped recognizing DVD-RAMs. Don't know why. I wondered if using a laser lens cleaner would help., but there's no mention on the cleaner's cover about use in a pc, only in set top dvd player/rrecorders.
Are there lens cleaning discs for pc drives, or is this something a professional should attend to?

    Thanks.

Just put the cleaning disk in to your drive and it should start and clean the lens. Some of the cleaning disks will play music or a video and let you know when it is done.

Well, I tried it. And it doesn't appear to have helped any. Thanks again.

Now I have to figure out what to buy as a replacement.

Thanks again, much appreciated. What exactly is IDE-my present burner says that in it's specs...I see alot of SATA and PATA next to many of the drives I've been looking at. I will get one that's IDE since that's what I've got, but wonder what's the difference?

Pata is the same specs as IDE, so that will work in your computer. That is the type of interface that is used by your computer. The Pata and IDE use a 40 pin ribbon cable, and the sata use a 7 pin cable. If your motherboard has a sata connection you can use a sata drive.
