I knew yours would be super low, since you always keep it lean and mean. I have thought about shutting down some of mine, but it seems to do fine for my usage, so I have left it mostly alone.
Looks like one hangup is trying to load Norton Internet Security drivers even though Norton is uninstalled. I did the removal tool so I'll see how it goes. I have boot logging enabled. Out of 4 or 5 "did not load" entries I think all but one was related to NIS.
Whew!! Got rid of the attempts to boot ghost Norton drivers(bad pun intentional.) Reboot time down to 76 seconds. That seems pretty acceptable. The only "did not load" entries are drivers that successfully load and there's only a few so I guess I'll leave it alone.
I stopped using the NIS a few years back when they launched the N360, and have never used the Ghost program or even loaded it even when I had the program. But N360 seems to have no problems with the system and I can't remember encountering any.
Yeah well the thing comes preinstalled. I used de-crapifier but I should have used the Norton removal tool in the first place. Fortunately I had a nice printout from LookInMyPC with the state of all my services. I didn't have to pick through 'em one by one this time around. Seems reasonably quiet afa the HD goes.
I installed the latest Opera. To my pleasant surprise the audio thingy is built in or preconfigured or something. I can listen to the jazz clips on AllMusic without loading Firefox(which likes to crash on that site for some reason.)
