Oh so when you guys talk about keeping a image of your hard drive, you're talking about having the same stuff from the one you're using on another 1 like you posted doc? Must be as a DVD-R is too small to image a hard drive.

Also once one is infected, lets say w/this monster, how could you put it on any computer to wipe it clean and reformat it w/out infecting the computer itself? Or do infections stop in the hard drive and don't enter bios or anything apart from it? I'm new to this so have no clue.

@ Chewy in your 1st post they suggested not backing up any .exe or screensaver executables, I presume they meant not to back them up on your hard drive correct? That way Virut won't find any? I put mine on flash drive n I think I also put them on a disc.

These guys that put these viruses out they prolly get some sadistic vicarious pleasure out of this huh? I always wondered why put them out, but heck it would be boring if it was always safe. Gives all the AV, Spyware, and Malware engineers more work to keep on their toes. Funny though if whoever puts these out can do so by going through every AV proggie, then they prolly have the intelligence to create some really great AV proggie themselves.

I have an old windows 98 laptop that I use for burning eproms on. The only time that I connect to the internet is when I need an update to the eprom program. Other than that it is not used that often.

I googled eproms. Beyond me. I'll learn the Image backups soon.

Eproms are used by equipment to make them work, sorta like a bios chip for a motherboard. Or like cash registers the eprom contains the program to make them operate.

I read up on it in Wikipedia. Just wouldn't know what to do w/them. Once my build gets up n running then I'll do some Image Backups n other stuff n use Dell like in a capacity like you do. I only hit net w/Dell when anything should go wrong w/build and to also update some proggies. Using it as TV also to watch flics. Still have to format both drives w/the WD proggies n make list w/profiler. Just 1 600 or so video list. Everything to hdd from now on.

I usually always safe hex, so I've been good since taking suggestions from here n using good AV n Spyware. When I had the virus on my Dell the whole pc was infected. Had to do clean install. I breeze through that now. B4 needed rookie techs from Dell.
