A few weeks ago, I noticed that when viewing online videos, my CPU zooms to 100%. I checked in all of my browsers -- IE7, Firefox 3, Safari, and Chrome -- and they all rev up to 100% when viewing almost all online video. Sometimes my computer even shuts down when trying to play a video.
The only online videos I can watch are youtube and hulu videos, but even those raise the CPU to 85-90%.
This just started a few weeks ago. I've searched online trying to figure out what to do, and I'm surmising that the issue has to do what a codec or driver, but I don't know what to do beyond that.
I turned off my anti-virus (avast) to see if that would do anything, but the issue was still there. I called Geek Squad, and they told me to uninstall and then reinstall Flash Player 10, which I did, but that had zero effect. (In fact, the flash player on the Adobe download site sent the CPU to 100%.)
My computer and OS specs:
Intel (R) Pentium (R) M processor 1.7 Ghz
504 MB RAM
Windows XP SP3
I run a website that features a lot of online video content, so any help you can offer with helping me resolve this issue would really be appreciated.
(Also, I hope didn't miss any instructions on this forum to include diagnostics logs with this first post . . . . )
