    Internet Explorer 8

    Hi folks,

Q1: Has anybody installed "Internet Explorer 8" (IE8) yet?

Q2: If so, how do you like it in camparison with IE7?

Yahoo keep prompting me to install IE8 ... it claims to be "Safer".

    Thanks,

    G!

    I like it.
    You raise the blade,
    You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
    the key,
    There's someone in my head
    and it's not me.

I am going to wait for a good while, too make sure that it will be compatible with the web sites that I go on. The last time I upgraded quite a few were not compatible and it was a real pia to down grade IE to the previous version.

There is a compatibility mode doc - just click it if the site misbehaves and IE behaves like IE7.

I've been using IE8 since the final version was released and haven't had any problems at all so far.

Works well too and looks wise is very similar to IE7.

The only potential negative that I can see at the moment is that, because this is new software, there is an increased risk of vulnerabilities being discovered.

Patches are issued so quickly these days that I personally (and most other users) would regard that as an acceptable risk but I know some very cautious users are holding off until the first service pack.

I have my drive imaged so that is not a real risk IMHO, and that drive is never connected to the internet. So I have no worries, and it does not take that long to transfer the data back to the drive to the drive that was infected.

                        Hi Guys,

Bless your hearts ...THANKS for replying ... I think I am just going ignore Yahoo's Message and hold back for awhile until those holes you folks mentioned get plugged up ... I am too darn paranoid about Web Security.

                        Thanks!

Yes .You are right. It is indeed revolving at a higher speed than it should. If I save that GIF and play it in any image viewer ,the speed is definitely slower than the one displayed here. Strange !!!

Yeah, I just hosed my Vista 32 bit PC playing around with themes with installers. Guess I tried to put on the wrong one!! Just restored the image from the USB drive and all is good. Only thing is I wish I had faster externals. I'm playing around with backing up to a folder over the network first, so that I only tie up the machine for the least amount of time, then copying to the external drive in the background. The idea being that I'll be prone to backup more frequently. It would be cool though if these PCs came with ESata standard. Copy @24 MB/sec is a drag.
