Go to the Immunize section, right-click deselect all, select all the "… (Domains)" or "… (Secure Domains)" entries, then click Undo.
Spybots immunize technique is recognised by the authors as out dated and no longer efficient. It has been superceded by the latest (and more effective) browser techniques including those used in IE8 so you're at no disadvantage from disabling the above.
For the record the problem relates to the 'Restricted Zone' entries populated automatically by Spybot's 'Immunize' feature. Microsoft never intended this feature to be used this way and therefore have not built in support for such excessively large lists.

@Wombler - so basically you are saying to unimmunize in Spybot S&D?

Hmmmmm just yesterday I updated to Firefox 3.08. I was finally able to use AddOns in 3 to do everything I was doing in 2.x. Seems to be very stable. Only thing I notice is the first startup of FF since boot seems to take a long time. Guess it is a bit of a pig. TM shows it using 97 MB of ram!
Once up it runs fine though.Comment

So basically deselect everything via right click then select all the entries with the "Domains" suffix before hitting undo.
This will selectively remove the problem entries.
When you next update obviously you'll have to deselect the "Domains" entries before hitting immunize which is a bit of a pain.
It's a Windows problem that as far as Microsoft is concerned doesn't need fixed so I'd imagine Spybot's fix will be to remove the option to immunize these entries in a future update.
The important thing though is that according to the Spybot team you no longer need to protect these entries anyway if you're using IE8.

I've been using IE8 for about 2 weeks now.............I downloaded FireFox at the same time also..........I prefer FireFox (thats a shocker I know) but IE 8 is not bad at all....hell of alot better than IE7 in my opinion............But SlimBrowser is still my browser of choice.......I tried Chrome awhile back, I liked it but was not compatible with a lot of stuff so I ditched itComment

@jmet if you are using FF 3.08 stable, try FF 3.1 beta 3. I've been using it a couple of days now. It's very snappy without FasterFox(I uninstalled FasterFox completely) and I found SyncPlaces as a substitute for the old Bookmark Sync & Sort. In short, most of your AddOns should still work if you use Mr Tech to override the version check.
It's a memory hog but once you load it up the first time after a bootup, it seems to load pretty well(must be the Windows system caching.) I have finally uninstalled 2.x
btw the beta installs in a separate directory so you can back it off without hosing 3.08 if you want.Comment

Oops!! Now I'm going totally crazy!! Using Minefield March 31 build! Even snappier!!
edit: Whoops! Guess they call it Minefield for a reason!! Kept changing all my favicons to little blue dots. Took me 3 hours to straighten out one machine. Don't know why but I can't go back to 2.x on that system. Seems like I'm stuck with 3.x if I like it or not now.
FF 3.1 beta 3 seems stable though.Last edited by MilesAhead; 1 Apr 2009, 07:50 AM.Comment
