Hmmmm, tried W7 64 over the weekend. When I tried to lay Vista64 image back on from external USB I find that "Raid Ready" as done on HP PCs is a big fly in the ointment. Paragon Backup rescue CD will only function in "safe reduced graphics" mode. Meaning the restore is an overnight process instead of an hour.
Other products like Macrium Reflect say I need to use the BartPE based rescue CD if I have RAID. No install Vista64 DVD so that seems to be a dead end. Trouble is there's no way to know which approach will work until you head down the road.
Is there such a thing as a clean install DVD that doesn't put trialware and av crap on the PC when installed? Or hot restore of programs with settings?
Might not be so bad if I could install a bare bones OS and then do a restore. But using the restore discs from the Pavilion by the time you're ready to actually restore the state of your machine you are fighting against all that crapware!! There's got to be an easier way!!
Overnight restore to lay an image on is ridiculous. Geez!!!
I mean, I have Vista64 back to the state I had on April 8th, but now I have the knowledge that if stuff gets hosed it's an overnight operation to fix it. I can't live with that situation. Anyone have any good ideas?
Thanks.
